Though we live just off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Elkin NC, we’ve enjoyed visiting the Tennessee mountains numerous times over the last few years. 
 
In our experience, there’s something undeniably quaint and charming about the Tennessee Mountain Towns, no matter what time of year you visit. 
 
But when we visit Tennessee during Christmas in the Smoky Mountains, it feels like the festive lights and decorations make them seem even more magical!
 
Although they may not be as well-known on a national level as the ones near us in Boone NC, there are a number of great Christmas tree farms in Tennessee to choose from.
 
And while the vast majority are located in the Blue Ridge Mountains region, you can also find some TN Xmas tree farms as far west as Nashville.

1. Santa’s Trees

Santa’s Trees has 8 locations in middle Tennessee. And though this Nashville Christmas tree farm doesn’t offer choose-and-cut options, they do provide top quality pre-cut Xmas trees to pick from.

Santa’s Trees specializes in beautifully-shaped Fraser firs, which they ensure will be as fresh as possible.

But they also have stunning Christmas wreaths (made from Fraser Fir, Boxwood, or mixed greenery) and hand-made garlands that you can use to deck your mantle, banisters, doors, and windows in holiday cheer. 

While you’re there, check out their shop for other symbols of Christmas, including adorable wooden reindeer decorations made from small logs and branches.

Big Sky Farm TN Christmas Tree Farm

2. Big Sky Farm

Located 45 minutes northeast of Nashville, this North TN Christmas tree farm offers both ready-cut and choose-and-cut trees.

Their ready-cut trees include Douglas, Fraser, and Noble Firs, while their choose-and-cut trees are White Pine, Leyland and Murray Cypress, and Green Giants. 

This is one of the only tree farms in TN we’ve ever visited that sells live Christmas trees in a pot. You can keep it indoors over the holidays, then plant it outside once the seasonal festivities are over!

They also have gorgeous wreaths festooned with ribbons and pine cones, and you can pick up bundles of excess greenery to make your own wreaths, garlands, centerpieces, etc.

Christmas Tree Farms in Knoxville TN

3. Bluebird Christmas Tree Farm

Located about 20 minutes northwest of Knoxville, Bluebird Christmas Tree Farm will open for the 2023 season on November 16 and remain open until all trees are gone (or December 24, whichever happens first). 

They have pre-cut and choose-and-cut Christmas trees, including Leyland cypress, Norway spruce, and Scotch pine trees. Staff will gladly provide saws for you to cut your tree, or cut it for you if you need help.

There are also bungees, ropes, and ratchet straps available for purchase to help secure your tree for its journey home.

Before you leave, check out the Bluebird Tree Farm gift shop, where they have garlands, wreaths, and all sorts of locally-made products that make for perfect Christmas gifts.  

While you’re there, keep an eye out for the Bluebird Christmas Express train winding its way around the gift shop!

Camps Christmas Forest in Tennessee

4. Camps Christmas Forest

Located 45 minutes from Knoxville (and just 4 miles from the incredible Craighead Caverns & Lost Sea Adventure), Camps Christmas Forest opens for the season on November 24th, 2023.

This choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm supplies saws, but you must  transport your chosen tree to the baler station. They also suggest you bring a truck to transport your tree home, and some rope or straps to tie the tree down.

Trees they have available this year include White Pine, Virginia Pine, Scotch Pine, Norway Spruce, Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire Cypress, and Murray Cypress. Note that they only accept cash or checks, not credit cards.

5. Campbell’s Christmas Tree Farm

Located just 25 minutes from Chattanooga in the small town of Harrison TN, Campbell’s Christmas Tree Farm opens for their 2023 season from November 24 to December 16 (or until the trees run out).

This choose-and-cut Xmas tree farm features Virginia Pine, White Pine, and Murray Cypress trees, but they also have pre-cut Fraser Firs from North Carolina available as well. 

After you choose your tress, Campbell’s also offers free hot cocoa, a communal bonfire, and amazing photo opps next to a festively adorned red vintage truck and/or Santa‘s sleigh!

Drop by their Christmas store before you head out and take a look at their Appalachian-style Christmas decorations, fresh-made wreaths, and tree stands.

6. Weaver Tree Farms

Another popular Chattanooga Christmas tree farm, Weaver Tree Farms opens on the day after Thanksgiving (November 24, 2023).

This family-owned farm has over 40 years in the Christmas tree business, which makes their 300-acre property a pretty successful one.

They specialize in Fraser Firs, which are known as “the Cadillac of Christmas trees” and grow naturally in the Appalachian Mountains

White Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, and other species of Firs are also available.

7. Wildwood Christmas Tree Farm

Located 25 minutes outside of Murfreesboro, Wildwood Christmas Tree Farm offers both choose-and-cut and pre-cut  trees.

Open for business from November 18 to December 10, 2023, the farm also offers fun hayrides and gorgeous views of the surrounding hills.

Once you have your tree selected, the grownups can savor the scenery while the kids explore the Treehouse Playscape. 

Check out their gift shop to check a few items off your Christmas shopping list. In addition to trees, they also offer wreaths, kissing balls, tree stands, and branded merchandise.

8. Country Cove Christmas Tree Farm

Opening on November 18, 2023, this family-run Christmas tree farm in Murfreesboro TN is well-stocked with both choose-and-cut trees and pre-cut trees.

There’s no need to bring your own saw to Country Cove Christmas Tree Farm, as they have plenty. Their friendly staff is ready and waiting to help you get your chosen tree baled and secured to your vehicle. 

Visit their Wreath Shop to find hand-made wreaths, garlands, mantle swags, mailbox cuddlers, and more. 

There’s also a ton of other cool stuff to shop for, from unique ornaments and table-top centerpieces to all sorts of Christmas decorations and stocking stuffers.

Christmas Tree Farms Near Bristol TN

9. Roan Valley Tree Farm

Located about 40 minutes from the town of Bristol TN, Roan Valley Tree Farm has been thriving for over 65 years now. Amazingly, they supplied the White House Christmas Tree back in 1993.

The farm offers numerous varieties of choose-and-cut and pre-cut trees, including Fraser Fir, Concolor Fir, Korean Fir, Nordmann Fir, Canaan Fir, Grand Fir, Colorado Blue Spruce, and Balsam Fir.

As well as their special trees, you can also buy your wreaths, tree stands, garlands, and other festive greenery here.

At the center of the farm is a 200-year-old Cantilever barn, where they serve family-style food on the weekend.

There’s also hot chocolate, hot Tennessee apple cider, and the obligatory festive hayride!

10. Wintergreen Farm

Located near the North Carolina State border (and not too far from Virginia) in Mountain City TN, Wintergreen Farm is another lovely place to get Christmas trees near Bristol TN.

Offering choose-and-cut as well as pre-cut Christmas trees, they’re open from Thanksgiving until December 22, 2023.

The trees at this farm are quite a sight to behold in winter, especially when there’s snow on the ground, with the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains making for a stunning backdrop.
