Located just north of Athens, this family-owned farm is a wonderland of trees with a variety of Leyland Cypress, Murray Cypress, Naylor Blue, Carolina Sapphire, Blue Ice, Burkii Cedar, Silver Smoke, and Eastern Red Cedar trees for you to browse.

The farm provides a saw and free shaking and drilling for tree stands, and the staff will be available to assist you in cutting down the tree and loading it up on your car for the journey home if needed.

After you’ve got your perfect tree cut and loaded up be sure to check out the farm’s store to shop for wreaths, homemade jellies, ornaments, bows, and other Christmas gifts!

If you make a visit on the weekends, hot apple cider and boiled peanuts will be available.

This family-owned choose and cut Christmas tree farm nestled in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains in Dahlonega GA is the perfect place for finding a tree to bring home for the holidays.

You have the choice of either a Murray Cypress or Carolina Sapphire tree and saws will be provided for you.

The friendly farm staff will also be available to assist if necessary and can help load your tree before you leave!

Along with picking a tree and enjoying the beautiful scenery, there will be an open fire pit where you can a free cup of hot chocolate!

The first day open is November 24th but if you want to choose your tree early and prepay they will mark your tree sold and you can cut it when you like- just give them a call!

There are also great Dahlonega cabin rentals nearby so consider making it a weekend event.

Berry Patch Farms was created in 1978 when the Durden family bought 40 acres of land with a dream of starting a u-pick farm.

The farm remained primarily a berry farm until 1988, when they got their first crop of pumpkins and Christmas trees. 

Since then the family has expanded just as the farm has. They are now able to harvest blueberries, pumpkins, and Christmas trees.

Visitors can choose between either Leyland Cypress or Fraser Fir. After you choose and chop your tree you can relax with some apple cider and funnel cake on the porch.

The farm also sells different kinds of wreaths and tree stands.

Blessed Pastures Christmas Tree Farm in GA

4. Blessed Pastures Farm

What was once a hog and cattle farm in the 70s and 80s became a Christmas tree farm in 2018 after Eric Peeler reinvented the family farm. 

Since this new business venture Blessed Pastures Farm was able to harvest their first trees in 2021 and had the ability to plant over 800 trees this past spring

Peeler actually grows his own trees by using propagation techniques on his older trees to grow new ones so you know exactly where your tree comes from. 

This expanding farm currently has three different varieties to choose from; Murray Cypress, Green Giants, and Carolina Sapphire. Handmade wreaths are also available for purchase.

If you’re looking for where to cut your own real Christmas tree, this family-owned and operated Georgia Christmas Tree Farm could be the perfect place for you as they go by the saying, “we provide the saw, you provide the saw power.”

Now in its 25th year of selling Christmas Trees Bottoms Christmas Tree Farm have over 4,000 choose and cut Christmas Trees in their fields including a large selection of fresh-cut Fraser Firs in their barn brought in from NC Christmas Tree Farms.

After picking the perfect tree you can take a hayride throughout the farm for $3 per rider or take a stroll around the walking trail to see farm animals like goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and horses.

Complimentary hot apple cider will be provided along with marshmallows to roast over the fire pit for smores!

For other goodies be sure to check out the Santa Snack Shack for yummy treats like jams, jellies, and homemade banana nut bread.

Hand saws are provided for you to make the cut yourself or the staff can come and cut it for you.

One of the best Christmas tree farms in Georgia, the family-run Coker Tree Farm has been providing trees for Metro Atlanta for over 39 years.

They have a great selection of Murray Cypress and pre-cut Balsam Fir trees for you to choose from and will provide saws for cutting.

If you need the help, there are also elves available that will help shake and bail your tree free of charge!

The farm’s newest edition is fresh-cut Fraser Firs that are brought in from North Carolina

Arriving on the farm only 1-5 days after being harvested, they are given a fresh cut and placed in water immediately on arrival to ensure the tree stays fresh!

The choose and cut trees available are Leyland Cypress and Carolina Sapphire. Pre-cut Fraser firs are also available for purchase.

Cooper’s Tree Farm also has beautiful wreaths, tables arrangements, and decorative greenery you can buy for your DIY Christmas Crafts!

Starting on November 20th, the farm is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm until their tree supply goes down.

Henderson Farms is a third-generation family farm that is celebrating its second year of offering choose and cut Christmas Trees.

Starting November 25th, the farm will be open Monday through Friday by appointment only and on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm. 

The farm will be selling certified organic Christmas trees (call for variety information) that can be cut by either yourself or the staff. They also have pre-cut Fraser Firs and living trees you can buy to plant later. 

Other offerings include a variety of Christmas decorations for sale, free tree trimmings, a picnic area, and restrooms.

There will also be a special holiday weekend December 3rd where children can visit with Santa and enjoy the petting zoo and bouncy house.

North Georgia based vendors will be on-site as well selling candles, décor, and other fun holiday items.

10. Holly Hill Christmas Tree Farm

Offering a beautiful array of Cypress trees, Pine trees, and fresh-cut Fraser Firs, this family-owned Christmas tree farm is a great place to visit if you’re wondering where to cut down a Christmas tree.

Starting the weekend before Thanksgiving Day you will be able to explore rows of beautiful trees after the farm opens at 3 pm on Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 am on Saturday, and 1 pm on Sunday.

Each day the farm will be open until dark. (Closed Mondays)

Along with the trees, you can purchase fresh-cut handmade wreaths made with clippings from Cypress, Pines, Frasers, and Holly as well as pottery and a variety of handmade gifts crafted by local artist Nancy Horton.

For over 30 years Hunters’ Christmas Tree Farm has allowed families from all over to come pick out and cut down their own special tree. 

Hundreds of Leyland Cypress trees and fresh-cut Fraser Firs brought in from North Carolina are available, along with tree stands and supplies, a variety of wreaths, and White Pine and Fraser Fir garlands.

Complimentary hot chocolate and hayrides will be available.

But for a truly special Holiday visit enjoy pony rides and visits with Santa on November 25-26th and December 3rd from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary, Kinsey Family Farm is a plant nursery that grows and harvests their own Christmas trees in the winter months. 

They have several ways in which you can harvest the trees, including choosing and cutting your own, pre-cut, and living trees in containers. 

Visitors have 12 different varieties of Fir, Spruce, and Cypress to pick from. These choices will vary depending on what kind of harvesting you choose.

Before going out into the cold to cut your own tree, you can warm up with some marshmallow roasting and hot chocolate in the barn.

The harvest shop on the farm sells local honey, salsas, jellies, and preserves. They also sell handmade garland and wreaths of varying sizes and types, and the marriage saver tree stands for stress-free assembly.

Located just 30 minutes outside of Atlanta, Sleepy Hollow Farm is one of the most beloved family-owned tree farms in Georgia with 60 acres of beautiful Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire, and Blue Ice Trees.

At the entrance of the farm, you will be given a saw to use once you have picked the perfect tree. The farm’s staff will net your tree, drill a hole for the stands, and tie your tree for no additional cost.

Pre-cut Frasier Firs are also available along with fresh-made wreaths after opening day November 20th. 

The country store is open Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm where you can purchase a variety of yummy treats like hot cocoa, jam, jelly, salsa, and cookies!

If you are a fan of the show Stranger Things you will definitely want to check out Hopper’s Cabin too.

Open from November 26th through December 19th you can make a trip to the farm to choose either a Fraser Fir or Canaan Fir tree to cut down and bring home to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

You can also check out the West Wood Farms Online Shop to pre-order one of the choose and cut or pre-cut Christmas Trees and then come by the farm to pick it up!

This family owned and operated farm opens up right after Thanksgiving and offers wreaths and a variety of Christmas trees. 

Some of these varieties include Virginia Pine, Eastern Red Cedar, and Leyland Cypress. They also have North Carolina Fraser Fir trees that can get as big as ten feet tall!

Visitors have the choice of purchasing a pre-cut tree or if you want to hand pick your Christmas tree they will chop one for you and provide the equipment needed for you to do it yourself.

Growing up in rural south Georgia, Christina Maggitas developed a love for nature at a young age and spent the majority of her formative years outdoors.
