The 10 Best Lake Houses in Georgia to Rent

Growing up in North Georgia, lakes were always a huge part of my summer vacation because my grandparents had one of those homey little cabins on Lake Hartwell.

It was there that I first fell in love with the natural beauty lakes had to offer, from the fascinating wildlife and gorgeous scenic vistas to colorful wildflowers and picking wild berries.

By late teens and early 20s, Lake Lanier was one of my favorite places to hang out. And for the past 14 years we’ve kept a pontoon boat docked on North Georgia‘s Lake Allatoona.

Whether it’s Lake Blue Ridge, Lake Chatuge in Hiawassee, or Lake Nottely in Blairsville, these days we often travel in search of our own little slice of paradise in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

As a matter of fact, we just got back from a 7-day trip in which we explored 3 different lakes in North Carolina, where we hope to buy our own little lake house next year.

If you’re looking to take a lake vacation this summer, read on for our in-depth guide to 10 of the best lake houses in Georgia to rent, including 6 within an hour of Downtown Atlanta.

Arranged by the number of bedrooms, each property review includes details on location, accommodations, amenities, and fun things to do nearby.

There’s also a handy map of the lake house rentals included below.
