Make sure to always visit the farm’s website and Facebook page, or even give them a quick call before venturing out to the farm to make sure they’re still open to guests and have trees available.
Some of the farms also have COVID-19 requirements you should be aware of, and certain activities may be limited due to safety concerns.
While Christmas tree farms usually stay open until Christmas Eve, this year many farms are closing early. Supplies may also be limited, so be sure to get your tree as soon after Thanksgiving as possible to ensure you can find the perfect tree!

After you pick out and cut down your favorite real Christmas tree, be sure to check out their Christmas shop.
There you can pick out a variety of holiday gifts like hand-poured scented soy candles, honey soaps, and more!
For your safety, the farm is complying with all CDC health and safety guidelines, including keeping all facilities sanitized and offering touchless payment.
The farm will be open November 19th through December 5th from 9 pm to 5 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
2. Bear Wallow Choose and Cut

4. Clawson’s Christmas Tree Farm

Once you choose your favorite Frasier Fir, the friendly staff can help bail and tie down your tree for the journey home.
Along with picking out your tree, you can enjoy complimentary coffee and hot chocolate or take a scenic hayride around the farm.

Before you go, don’t miss out on exploring the farm. Take an old-fashioned hayride, visit cows and horses, and enjoy beverages and snacks. Kids can even take a pony ride!
The choose and cut trees are open the Saturday and Sunday before Thanksgiving, the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after Thanksgiving, and the following two Saturdays and Sundays.

6. Appalachian Evergreens

A Boone-area favorite since 1933, Appalachian Evergreens crafts beautiful traditional symbols of Christmas such as handmade wreaths and garlands from fresh-cut evergreens.
To purchase them, along with a variety of other goodies (including candle centerpieces and table-top trees), you can visit their website to shop online.
For in-person fun, you can visit their farm in Blowing Rock (8 miles from Boone). There you can choose and cut the perfect Fraser Fir Christmas tree to bring home for the holidays!
7. Walker Farm

8. Frosty’s Choose & Cut

One of the best Christmas Tree farms in Boone NC, Frosty’s Choose and Cut is a great place to celebrate the holidays and find the perfect tree to bring home.
With Fraser Fir trees available in a variety of sizes, ranging from tabletop to over 12 feet fall, you’re sure to find a tree that fits your family’s needs.
Once your tree is cut, it will be baled and put on a trailer to be taken to the loading area, where you can pick it up.
While you wait, you can explore “Santa’s Attic” for all sorts of presents, decorations, wreaths, and greenery that are available for purchase. You can also take part in their Build-a-Wreath activity.
Your family can choose the size of your wreath, pick out the specific greenery to include, and select from a bunch of decorations to make your wreath unique!

9. Swinging Bridge Christmas Tree Farm

Nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains, this fabulous farm offers field-grown rhododendrons all year round, blueberries in the summer, and gorgeous Fraser fir Christmas trees in November and December.
At Swinging Bridge Farm you can pick out a tree and the farm’s staff will cut it, bale it, and tie it to your car for you. If you want, you can cut the tree down yourself with a handsaw provided by the farm.
After picking out your tree, you can enjoy complimentary hot cider as you explore the scenic farm and take a stroll across their photogenic swinging bridge!

10. C and J Christmas Trees
1999 Brookshire Road, Boone, NC
Awarded the title of Conservation Farm Family of the Year in 2018 and the Environmental Stewardship Award from the National Christmas Tree Association in 2019, C and J Christmas Trees offers some of the best choose and cut Christmas trees around!
Open from 9 am to 4 pm each weekend of December, you can pick from a range of trees all the way from tabletop size to 8 feet tall along with an assortment of wreaths and handmade bows.
You will be able to pick out which tree you want and then the staff will cut it down, bale it, and secure it to your vehicle for the ride home.
Hotdogs, BBQ, chips, apple cider, hot chocolate, coffee, and dipped marshmallows and pretzels will also be for sale.
11. Long’s Tree Farm

Nestled in the gorgeous Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina, Long’s Tree Farm is a family-owned business that has been growing and harvesting Christmas trees since the late 1970s.
Their choose and cut trees are available the weekend before Thanksgiving and every weekend until Christmas from 9 am to dusk.
They have sheared White Pine trees ranging from table-top to 10 feet tall along with quality Fraser Fir Christmas trees ranging from table-top to a towering 16 feet tall!
After picking your perfect tree, staff will be available to help cut, trim, bale, and load it if needed.

They sell Carolina Saphire, White Pine, Leyland Cypress, Red Cedar, Colorado Blue Spruce, and pre-cut Fraser Fir trees for you too choose from.

The Mehaffeys will not be selling wholesale Fraser Firs during the 2021 season, but they will be open for retail choose and cut customers on November 20 and 21, November 25 – 28, and December 2 – 5 or until they are sold out.

14. Smoky Mountain Tree Farm

If you’re looking for a Christmas tree farm near Asheville, Waynesville’s Smoky Mountain Tree Farm is widely considered one of the best.
Their farm has an abundance of beautiful Fraser Fir trees in a variety of sizes, and the staff will be available to help bale and tie the tree to your car for the journey home.
The farm also sells Fraser Fir wreaths and garlands and is open rain or shine Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm, and Friday through Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm. They are open until Christmas Eve or until they run out of trees.
15. Frosty Mountain Christmas Trees

Unlike smaller choose-and-cut Christmas Tree farms, Frosty Mountain offers tens of thousands of trees during the 6-week period before Christmas.
Once you find the perfect tree, you can watch while they harvest it and trim it to just the right shape. They will then place the tree in netting to protect it and load it onto your car.
Along with the trees, Frosty Mountain also offers fresh wreaths and garlands for purchase.
Note that visitors may have to walk up to a half-mile on hilly ground to find the perfect tree. So make sure you’re wearing sturdy footwear!

16. Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm

The Boyd Farm has been in the Boyd family for over 100 years and continuously provides beautiful Christmas trees for families to purchase each year.
When visiting the farm, you get to pick out the tree you want and they will bale it and tie it to your vehicle or you can use the provided bow saws and cut it yourself!
The best part is, dogs are welcome to join you during your visit as long as they are kept on a leash!
17. Reeves Tree Farm

The Reeves Tree Farm was established in 1996 and is a great Christmas tree farm to visit if you are looking to cut down and bring home a Fraser Fir tree for the holiday season.
They are open November 26th through December 12th on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm although you should call before your visit to confirm their operating hours.
Along with Fraser Firs, Reeves Tree Farm also sells wreaths and unsheared trees you can purchase to decorate your home.

Their regular hours are from 9 am to 5 pm. You can choose the tree you want and cut it yourself, or have the staff cut one for you.
While you’re on the farm, be sure to check out the tiny elf-sized cottages that are scattered throughout the Christmas trees.

19. Cartner’s Christmas Tree Farm

This family-owned and operated Christmas tree farm near Banner Elk has been providing locals with gorgeous trees since 1959.
The Carters offer fresh Fraser fir trees along with wreaths and garlands that can be pre-ordered online.
The choose and cut Fraser fir Christmas trees are available on November 20-21, 25-28, and December 4-5 from 9 am to 5 pm.
