Located in Waynesville NC, the Boyd Farm has been in the Boyd family for over 100 years and continuously provides beautiful Christmas trees for families to purchase each year.
For an authentic experience, you can cut your own Christmas tree in NC.
When visiting the farm, you get to pick out the tree you want, and they will bale it and tie it to your vehicle, or you can use the provided bow saws and cut your own!
The best part is dogs are welcome to join you during your visit, as long as they are kept on a leash.

2. Frosty Mountain Christmas Trees

Unlike smaller choose-and-cut NC Christmas Tree farms, Frosty Mountain typically offers tens of thousands of trees during the 6-week period before Christmas in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Once you find your perfect symbol of Christmas, you can watch while they harvest it and trim it to just the right shape. They will then place the tree in netting to protect it and load it onto your car.
Along with the trees, Frosty Mountain also offers fresh wreaths and garlands for purchase.
Note that visitors may have to walk up to a half-mile on hilly ground to find the perfect tree. So make sure you’re wearing sturdy footwear!

3. Mehaffey Tree Farm

Operating in Waynesville since 1984, this family-owned farm is one of the best Christmas tree farms near Asheville NC.
The Mehaffeys will not be selling wholesale Fraser Firs during the 2023 season.
But they will be open for retail choose-and-cut customers on November 16-19, Thanksgiving to November 26, November 30-December 3, and December 7-10, or until they’re sold out.
They’re also one of the rare pet-friendly Christmas tree farms. So your 4-legged friends can come along for the adventure as long as they’re kept on a leash.

4. Smoky Mountain Tree Farm

If you’re looking for a Christmas tree farm near Asheville, Waynesville’s Smoky Mountain Tree Farm is widely considered one of the best.
Their family-owned North Carolina tree farm has an abundance of beautiful Fraser Fir trees in a variety of sizes, and the staff will be available to help bale and tie the tree to your car for the journey home.
The farm also sells Fraser Fir wreaths and garlands and is open rain or shine Mon-Thurs from 10 am to 4 pm, and Friday through Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm. They are open until Christmas Eve or until they run out of trees.

5. Sandy Hollar Farms

Sandy Hollar Farms has been family-owned and operated since 1969, when they started selling Christmas trees in their front yard.
Today they have thousands of trees and make hundreds of fresh wreaths each year.
In addition to Christmas trees, the working farm also has llamas, sheep, goats, cattle, and Great Pyrenees guard dogs. At Christmas time, the farm also has wagon rides and a Christmas shop.

6. Appalachian Christmas Mountain Farm

This farm has dedicated themselves to growing an assortment of Fraser Firs Christmas trees for the North Carolina Mountain Town of Boone.
As a choose and cut Christmas tree farm in NC, Appalachian Christmas Mountain Farm has trees ranging from tabletop size to 12 feet tall.
Those who work at the farm will accompany you to the field and, once you’ve picked the perfect tree, they’ll cut and trim the tree to your liking.
There is also an attraction where kids can choose their very own tiny tree and a hayride through the tree fields.
A shop on the property that sells handmade wreaths, holiday decorations, products from local vendors, and refreshments for your time on the farm.

8. Circle C Tree Farms

In 1996 Dennis Cook decided to transform the 30 acres once owned by his grandfather into a choose and cut Christmas tree farm.
After years of hard work they are now growing trees that can get up to 13 feet tall!
Though you cannot cut the tree yourself, the farm allows you to handpick whatever tree you want and does the work for you.
Circle C’s specializes in NC Fraser Fir trees with sizes ranging from 3 feet to a massive 13 feet tall!
They do not have a huge supply of smaller trees, but there is a good selection in their pre-cut section at a lower price.
Opening weekend is Nov 11-12 and starts at 9 AM. Christmas Trees range from 7 to 13 feel tall.

You can also purchase beautiful wreaths, which are available in 12 and 16-inch sizes, to add to your festive holiday decorations.

12. Walker Farm

Once your tree is cut, it will be baled and put on a trailer to be taken to the loading area, where you can pick it up.
While you wait, you can explore “Santa’s Attic” for all sorts of presents, decorations, wreaths, and greenery that are available for purchase. You can also take part in their Build-a-Wreath activity.
Your family can choose the size of your wreath, pick out the specific greenery to include, and select from a bunch of decorations to make your wreath unique.

21. Long’s Tree Farm

Nestled in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Long’s Tree Farm is a family-owned business that has been growing and harvesting Christmas trees since the late 1970s.
Their choose and cut trees are available the weekend before Thanksgiving and every weekend until Christmas from 9 am to dusk.
They have sheared White Pine trees ranging from table-top to 10 feet tall along with quality Fraser Fir Christmas trees ranging from table-top to a towering 16 feet tall!

Located just up the road from my house, Mistletoe Meadows is near the Virginia border, but not too far from towns like Boone and Blowing Rock.
Mistletoe Meadows mostly grows Fraser Firs, but they also cultivate White Pine, Blue Spruce, and Leyland Cypress.
They do offer certain choose-and-cut days, with hot cocoa in the barn and a hayride to boot!
These days include November 17-19, November 22, November 24-26, December 2-3, and December 9-10. Gates open at 9 AM on these days, and close at dark.
Visitors get to choose their favorite tree, and the Mistletoe Meadows elves will help cut it, bale it, and load it on your car.

The Red Barn Tree Farm is part of the family owned and operated 40-acre vineyards, Linville Falls Winery. It is a great NC Christmas tree farm to visit if you are looking for a Choose-n-Cut tree for the holiday season.
Start by picking up a measuring pole to help you choose the perfect tree. Once you’ve found it, wave the pole to signal one of the farm’s chainsaw operators to cut it for you.
They are open Friday, November 17, hours 10 AM – 5 PM, Thanksgiving Day, and through the beginning of December or until the trees run out.
Along with Christmas Trees, the Red Barn Tree Farm also offers Hayrides for fun or to get to the out of the way spots on the farm.

With sizes ranging from nine feet to fourteen feet tall, you can pick the perfect NC Fraser Fir tree and cut it down yourself.
Fir Heaven’s Sake has very reasonably priced trees at only $9 per foot so customers won’t have to break the bank for a tree.
They plant anywhere from 300 to 500 trees per year too so their supply won’t be running out too soon.
