Located in Young Harris GA (which is just a 2-hour drive from Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Asheville), Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is one of the most critically acclaimed mountain resorts in Georgia.
This resort has 102 guest rooms, including Suites, King Rooms, and 2-Queens Rooms. There are also private rooms in shared 4-bedroom cottages.
Their Equani Spa has unique Native American-inspired treatments, the golf course is rated among the best in Georgia, and there are horseback riding stables as well as axe-throwing and archery.
Other resort amenities include a health club, indoor and outdoor pools, and one of the area’s best restaurants.
For other attractions and activities, the Georgia mountain town of Hiawassee and Lake Chatuge are just minutes away!

2. Barnsley Resort

Located about halfway between Atlanta and Lookout Mountain, Adairsville GA is home to Barnsley Resort, which offers 3,000 acres of luxury accommodations, history, adventure, and sporting.
In addition to a golf course and full-service spa, Barnsley Resort offers a shooting range, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and tennis. There are also historic ruins, gardens, and a museum on site.
Their romantic cottage rooms come with a fireplace and a clawfoot tub. There are also 55 rooms and suites at the Inn, which is designed like a country estate. Lastly, there are Estate Cottages with 2 to 7 bedrooms, with some pet-friendly options.
Restaurants at Barnsley Resort include fine dining at the Woodlands Grill, elegant casual dining at the Rice House, and relaxed food and fun at the Beer Garden.

3. Chateau Elan Winery

If you’re looking for unique romantic resorts in Georgia, the 3500-acre Chateau Elan may be the perfect fit for you.
In addition to some wonderful North Georgia wines, they offer amenities such as a European-style spa that offers services including massages, beauty/nail treatments, and personal trainers in the fitness center.
Widely regarded among the best resorts in the North Georgia mountains, they have 4 restaurants on the property, offering French, American, Mediterranean, and Irish cuisines.
There’s also an outdoor swimming pool with an outdoor fireplace and garden, where you can relax and enjoy beautiful views of the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains with a glass of wine.

4. Forrest Hills Mountain Resort

Forrest Hills Mountain Resort is a pet-friendly and family-friendly property offering great accommodations close to Amicalola Falls State Park and some of our favorite Dahlonega wineries.
Lodging options at this North GA resort includes rooms, suites, cabin rentals, and lodges for large groups. Each cabin comes with wifi, streaming services, fireplaces, and hot tubs.
There’s a carriage company and stable on the property, which offers guided horseback riding tours. After the ride, guests can visit the spa for a massage to work on those tired muscles.
Forrest Hills Mountain Resort also boasts an outdoor pool, kids play area, volleyball courts, nature trails, restaurants, a wedding venue, and a unique general store.

5. Valhalla Resort Hotel

The Valhalla Resort Hotel is located in the colorful mountain town of Helen GA, which (much like Little Switzerland NC) heavily borrows Alpine influences from Bavarian Germany.
Numerous suites and bungalows are available at the resort, including ADA-accessible options, a huge 940-square-f00t Presidential Suite, and a romantic Penthouse King Suite.
For families and larger groups, there’s also a Private Villa (up to 8 guests) and a Townhouse (up to 6 guests.
Valhalla’s Solasta Spa offers maximum relaxation, with massages and other treatments available. They also have the Valhalla Golf Club, tennis, bocce ball, and guided tours to spot birds and wildlife.
Valhalla has some of the best restaurants in Helen GA, including upscale dining at Caledonia, dinner with a view at Sky Bar, casual fare at Staghorn Grill, and wine-pairing experiences at The Abbey Wine Room.

Resorts in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC
6. Chetola Resort

Chetola Resort is a 78-acre resort in Blowing Rock NC, right in the heart of the High Country. It’s surrounded by some of our favorite biking and hiking trails, as well as several of the best North Carolina ski resorts.
In terms of accommodation options, this mountain resort has the Chetola Lodge, Bob Timberlake Inn, and Chetola Premium Condos available. Each of the rooms has unique décor and designs, but they all come loaded with amenities.
The Spa at Chetola Resort offers massages, facials, nails, and hair services. Chetola is also an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge, and archery and clay shooting are part of the package.
The property also includes hiking trails (one of which leads to Moses H Cone Memorial Park), a small lake, and canoe, kayak, and paddle board rentals.
Timberlake’s Restaurant has breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. It’s easily among the best restaurants in Blowing Rock, so reservations are recommended. Headwaters Pub has a full bar and live music.

7. The Greystone Inn

Overlooking picturesque Lake Toxaway, the Greystone Inn is a historic resort located about 20 miles from Brevard NC. It’s perfect for those seeking outdoor adventure, superb hospitality, and old-world charm.
Originally the lakeside vacation home of George and Lucy Armstrong, the Greystone Inn opened in 1985, honoring Lucy’s request that their property be enjoyed by many.
Today, the restaurant lures guests with local seasonal cuisine, the Mansion Bar has comfortable seats and first-class cocktails, and the spa/wellness center offers premium massages and other luxurious treatments.
The Inn is located between the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forest, with Gorges State Park just 6.8 miles south. Rainbow Falls, one of the most impressive Brevard waterfalls we’ve visited, is well worth the hike!

8. High Hampton Resort

The High Hampton Resort in Cashiers NC recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, and ranks among the best luxury resorts in North Carolina. It also got a major renovation a few years ago to ensure it stays at the top of the list.
They continue to focus on tradition and character, with a comfy atmosphere of century-old floors and locally produced antiques. But now their bathrooms have been modernized, and the HVAC got a significant upgrade.
Food, wine, and hospitality have also been elevated to modern standards of excellence. They have upscale restaurant options for special occasions, but causal lunch menus for more laid-back meals.
High Hampton sits beside a private mountain lake and at the foot of a stunning rock face. Nearby you’ll find fabulous waterfalls like High Falls, Bust Your Butt Falls, and Cashiers Sliding Rock (which is especially fun for kids).

9. The Inn on Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore is the largest privately-owned home in America, and the 8,000-acre Asheville estate has been the best-known destination for mountain vacations in NC since it was built for the Vanderbilts in the late 1800s.
The Inn on Biltmore Estate has 4-star service, rooms befitting royalty, and a bucolic setting that draws 1,000,000+ visitors every year. It also has a luxury spa offering massages, relaxing rooms, and skincare treatments.
You’ll also find a winery, shops, and restaurants on the Estate, whose picturesque grounds were designed by Frederick Law Olmstead (who also designed New York City’s Central Park).
Guests at the Inn can quickly access Downtown Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the NC Arboretum, and Pisgah National Forest, not to mention Antler Hill Village.

10. Lakeview at Fontana Inn & Treetop Soaking Cabanas

Located just outside of Bryson City NC, Lakeview at Fontana Inn & Treetop Soaking Cabanas is all about getting away from the hustle and bustle.
Amenities at this Western NC resort include incredible views of Fontana Lake from the Lakeview Observation Deck, a spring-fed swimming pool, a small spa, and complimentary coffee and pastries every morning.
This NC mountain resort’s tagline is “unplug, unwind, unhosted.” This “rustic chic” approach keeps the resort affordable without sacrificing the cozy creature comforts that make guests want to linger.
King and Queen rooms are available, as are 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom suites. Their rooms don’t have Wi-Fi or TVs, but there is a Wi-Fi lounge, strong cell service, and a small food market on-site.
Of course the big attraction here is their treetop soaking cabanas, which offer a unique spa-style experience unlike anything else in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

11. Omni Grove Park Inn

The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville has all the history and prestige it needs to qualify as one of the Top 10 Resorts in North Carolina, with a wealth of amenities that earn it a spot near the top of that list.
Its history dates back to 1909, and its doors opened in 1913. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and became a member of Historic Hotels of America in 2007.
Today the Omni Grove Park Inn has adults-only rooms, a 50,000-sq-foot sports complex, an 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and several restaurants to suit all tastes.
It also offers special events like the National Gingerbread House Competition (at Christmas) and Pop Legends Musical Weekend (in January) to keep guests spoiled with fun things to do.

Resorts in the Blue Ridge Mountains of TN
12. Blackberry Farm

Located in Walland NC (7 miles west of Townsend), this 4,200-acre farm was the passion project of Sam Beall, who returned to his family home after going to culinary school and working as a chef at restaurants and wineries in California’s Napa Valley.
Sadly, Beall passed away in 2016, but not before establishing the farm as a world class high-end resort, with attractions like Tuckaleechee Caverns and Great Smoky Mountains National Park less than 15 miles away.
Accommodation options include elegant rooms with chic country-style decor, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, suites with added fireplaces and soaking tubs, and cottages with porches and golf carts. They also 3- to 5-bedroom houses with full kitchens for families and groups.

14. Margaritaville Resort Gatlinburg

Gatlinburg is like a full-on swan dive into themed tourism. So it makes sense that the Margaritaville Resort merges a mountain resort setting with a tropical atmosphere.
All rooms at Margaritaville come with 50-inch LCD TVs, full bathrooms with rain showers, wet bars, kitchenettes, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Some also have private balconies.
The Downtown Gatlinburg resort’s amenities include the St. Somewhere Spa for massages and beauty treatments, and a huge outdoor pool area with a waterslide, splash pad, and an oversized hot tub.
There’s also a 24-hour fitness center and an indoor swimming pool that’s great during Winter in Gatlinburg.
In terms of restaurants, the resort covers all the bases, with Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions, the License to Chill Bar, the Daiquiri Shack & Grill, and the Landshark Bar & Grill.

15. Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Water Park

This Gatlinburg resort has its own ziplines, playground, and spa, as well as a fitness center, game room, and mini golf. There’s also Wild Bear Falls Water Park, which offers 60,000 sq feet of family-friendly fun.
With its retractable roof, their pool is the perfect temperature at any time of year. There’s also a lazy river, giant waterslides, and an interactive treehouse.

Resorts in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA
16. Massanutten Resort

One of the largest mountain getaways in VA, Massanutten Resort is an all-season resort that encompasses 6,000 acres and features both condo and hotel accommodations.
This property is packed with amenities– aerobics classes, bicycle trails, game rooms, snow skiing, golf courses, ice skating, mini golf, playgrounds, and more. But the biggest draw is Massanutten’s water park.
Restaurant options range from campfire grills and a pizzeria to snack bars and casual dining at the Base Camp.
There’s also lots of shopping available, and the resort has a spa boutique as well.
Their mountain lodging (Eagle Trace, The Summit, Shenandoah Villas, etc.) is closer to the ski slopes, while their Shenandoah Valley accommodations (Woodstone Meadows & Regal Vistas) are near the waterpark.

17. Omni Homestead Resort

Located near the West Virginia border, the Omni Homestead Resort is the oldest of the Blue Ridge Mountains resorts in Virginia. This Hot Springs VA resort has been operating for over 250 years, and has been visited by 23 US presidents!
Accommodation options include 483 luxury guest rooms and 5 different grades of suites. All rooms have flat-screen plasma TVs, down pillows, feather beds, and luxury linens.
Select rooms have a fireplace, while select suites have a private porch, dining table, and/or extra bathroom.
The resort features a 2-acre waterpark, golf courses, and a state-of-the-art spa with an Aqua-Thermal Suite and adults-only Serenity Garden. Other amenities include 4 clay tennis courts, a zipline tour, and a spring-fed indoor pool.
In the Winter, Omni Homestead Resort has slopes for skiing and snow tubing, as well as a rink for ice skating.

18. Peaks of Otter Lodge (Bedford VA)

One of the rare mountain lodges located right on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the historic Peaks of Otter Lodge has an amazing location between 3 stunning mountain peaks: Sharp Top, Flat Top, and Harkening Hill.
Abbott Lake was constructed in the 1960s, and the 63-room lodge was opened shortly thereafter by the National Park Service, offering stellar views of Sharp Top Mountain and the lake.
Stays at the Peak of Otter Lodge are perfect for family gatherings, romantic getaways, and adventure travel.
Note that the basic rooms have limited WiFi access, but they do offer flat screen TVs, coffee makers, and patios (or balconies) with breathtaking overlooks.
Nearby attractions include numerous popular hiking trails, scenic drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Peaks of Otter Winery, and the charming town of Bedford VA.

19. Primland Resort

Primland’s golf course was voted #1 in Virginia by Golf Digest, while the Auberge Spa provides relaxation.
In terms of restaurants, the 19th Pub has a full bar and hearty fare, Stables Saloon has well-done Southern fare, and Elements offers fine dining and a superb ambiance for romanctic tmeals.
Accommodation options include rooms and suites in the Lodge, 4 Pinnacle Cottages with bird’s-eye views, Fairway Cottages by the golf course, and several Tree Houses perched above the Dan River.

20. Wintergreen Resort

Another one of the best ski resorts in Virginia, Wintergreen Resort is located between Charlottesville and Lexington, just a few miles east of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Accommodations at Wintergreen Resort offer numerous floor plans. Each room is individually decorated for a unique experience, but most have a kitchenette and balconies with great views.
There are also condos ranging from 1 to 5 bedrooms, and homes with a range of 3 to 6 bedrooms, as well as 2 exclusive lodges with either 9 or 10 bedrooms.
During Winter in Virginia, the resort has ski slopes, a Terrain Park for snowboarding, and runs for snow tubing. Other amenities include a golf course, racquet sports, hiking trails, waterfalls, a lake, and the Wintergreen Spa.
